Camping

We took advantage of the long weekend for Labor Day to go camping. We decided to go just about 45 minutes away, so if things didn't go well we could come home pretty easily. We got out to the campsite kind of late since I worked to 5:30 and we still had to pack, it was pretty close to dark. But we got there and got everything set up and Xander was VERY excited to be camping, he was in ultra turbo mode. In fact when Todd and I were packing at home he waited in the pick-up, he was ready to go and was climbing all over his car seat in the pick-up.

We had a campfire and some marshmallows and then went to bed pretty late, it was nearly 10 before Xander fell asleep and Todd and I didn't get to bed until closer to 11. About 4 in the morning Xander squirmed his way out of his camping cot and then he crawled on to the air mattress with us. We were up and going at 6:30 exploring.

Saturday was a great day, nice weather. We did some hiking exploring of our campsite and Xander rode his trike. We had some good friends who live nearby come over for the afternoon. We had a picnic lunch and then went for a boat ride. We found the house of what turned out to be a mutual friend on one of the lakes and stopped by for a visit (it decided to rain while we were visiting, but we just headed inside for a bit.) Then the sun came back out and Todd did some waterskiing and we headed back to camp. It was a gorgeous evening and another great night for a campfire, we turned in as soon as Xander fell asleep around 9:30.

Sunday morning Xander work up around 5 and did NOT want to go back to bed, but after about 1/2 hour or struggling we all slept in until 7:30. It was a cool morning, but we got up and had some breakfast. Then around 9 AM it decided to starting misting/raining on us and wasn't stopping. So we decided to go home. Got everything put together and packed up and made it home before one.

When we got home we decided to have a fire in the fireplace, and even made apple pudgie pies in the fire place at home. It was a good weekend and nice to be home to relax today.
