Waterfall weekend

We had a great adventure this weekend. We decided to visit three new waterfalls (ones we had never been to see before.) Saturday started out to the west with Amnicon Falls State Park. We had a nice picnic by the river. Sunday took us East to Superior Falls and Saxon Falls. The pictures don't do the waterfalls justice. What an amazing weekend that reaffirms for us the beauty of our area. With all the fresh air we should sleep good tonight!

Xander made it way up the hill (and got a bit muddy in the process.)

The hydroelectric dam spillway

Both Superior and Saxon falls have hydroelectric dams by them. to see Saxon, you get to cross the roaring Montreal river over a pipe for the dam.

The boys and I by the falls

Saxon Falls was absolutely gorgeous with the ice glazed trees and cliffs.

the water was roaring today.

Xander got a good picture of use with the falls in the background.

The boys enjoyed sliding down the hills. This made us nervous in some areas because there were tall cliffs with nothing to keep little boys going over. They were safe here thought, so we spent extra time getting their sliding out.
