Labor Day weekend Boat Ride

We had a very nice 3 day weekend for Labor Day, we were home with no plans. Even better, we had a perfect day for a boat ride on the Lake sunday. The temperature wasn't the warmest (high 60s), but the sun was out and the lake was calm. We decided to leave mid-morning and take a picnic lunch with us. We launched out of ashland and took a nice cruise. We went up the washburn/bayfield coast and then spent some time out among the apostle islands (see map of our route below.) We stopped and got out to see the Raspberry Island light house. We had our picnic just off Raspberry Island and then got to see some of the outer islands that are difficult to get to with our boat unless it is a calm day. The coast of Otter Island was beautiful. We got to see the fish camp on Manitou and stone from the Quarry on Hermit. We went around the east side of Madeline. Then the water got a bit rough on our way in, but we made it. A 6 hour boat ride made for a nice Sunday, 5 great hours on the lake (the last a bit bumpy.) Hope you enjoy the pictures.
