We made a family trip to Northwestern washington for Uncle Chad and Aunt Jackie's wedding. We flew from Minneapolis to Seattle. Both boys did really well on the plane, Flint slept the whole way, unfortunately Xander didn't sleep (mom and dad would have liked to have a nap,) but was well behaved. We got in rented our car and headed up to Sedro Woolley to Jackie & Chad's house for a BBQ. Was great to see their home and hang out with family.
Thursday morning we got up and headed over to Deception Pass State park. It was quite foggy, but we explored some big trees, found some banana slugs and climbed on a few rocks. Thursday afternoon was rehersal and groom's dinner. Groom's dinner was at a park and we had fresh grilled King Salmon, it was wonderful, Thanks grandpa Mark.
Friday was the wedding day and we headed back to Deception pass and took a hike along the side of the road, the hike ended up being a big longer than we thought, but was good to get out and get moving. Xander took a good nap in the car following, which allowed for happy boys through the rest of the day.
Todd officiated over the wedding and Xander was the ring Bearer. They both did a great job. The wedding and reception were at an old Inn that had a great ballroom connected with a courtyard. They got married outside and then the reception was in the ballroom. It was great to have the fenced in courtyard for the boys to play in, and Xander even found some more boys to run around and play with.
Saturday was a great day, beautiful weather and we got to spend some Gibbon brother family time. Our family, Luke, Justine, Briar, Chad and Jackie all piled in to two cars and drove up to Bellingham to see Uncle Chad's office, played at the park at the pier near his office and then headed back a bit south to some tide pools at Larabee State Park.
It was so much fun to explore and see the boys' reaction to playing on the rocks, finding crab and touching a starfish. We gathered Saturday night at Chad and Jackie's again to enjoy some wedding leftovers (delicious food and cake :).
Sunday morning brought goodbyes, and more driving, plane ride and driving again. It was a great trip and we miss everyone already. Congrats to Uncle Chad and Aunt Jackie, we enoyed being a part of your wedding.
