Camping at Namekagon

We were really excited about getting out camping with the boys this summer as Flint is getting a bit older and a little easier to handle (sometimes!) So I took a Friday off and we decided to visit a national forest campground on a big inland lake about an hour away. It was a nice opportunity to take the boat maybe a little water skiing, fishing and exploring a new lake.
Todd and I got the pick-up and boat packed up with the tent, sleeping bags, life-jackets and all the other 200 things we needed for the weekend. We picked the boys up from school right after lunch and set out for Lake Namekagon. We had a gorgeous site right by the lake (the puppies could just run down the the lake) and got everything set up.
Then we decided to get the boat out and explore the lake. We cruised around, the lake has a lot of turns and waterways and islands to explore. We got to the south side of the lake (our campground was all the way north) and saw a big bank of very dark looking clouds. So we started back for the campground.
We actually made it back without any wrong turns, but were 4th in line to get off the lake at the boat launch. The rain started before we made it off the lake, but we pulled up the canopy and hung out (Fortunately it was a warm day and the rain was warm). We got the boat out of the lake and got back to the tent. As we were hanging out in the tent and debating the merits of trying to eat in the tent or going to a local resort, water started dripping from the roof of the tent.
Sooo, we put the boys in their carseats with a movie on the i-pad and what took us 4 hours to pack and set-up came down and packed back in to the pick-up and boat in 45 min. We were home by 7 pm and had our hot dogs and brats on the george foreman.

Watching a movie in the tent while it rained outside. This was just about when the tent started leaking.

Back home by 7 with our camping cookout indoors.
