Copper Harbor Camping

We went camping in Copper Harbor, MI this last weekend. We had a four day weekend planned for camping, but didn't decide where we were going to go until Thursday night. This isn't really like us and it wasn't on purpose :). We had planned on going to Black River Harbor which doesn't take reservations, but found out early in the week that that campground was closed so we were at the mercy of last minute decisions. We talked about going up the North Shore, but were unable to get any camping reservations and calling around Thursday afternoon the prospect of getting a spot looked bleak. So we decided since we could get a reservation at Copper Harbor to head up that way (It is about 4 hours north east of us.)
Copper Harbor is on the south shore of lake superior and the boys were very surprised to learn that the lake we were camping by was the same lake that we live by. Our reserved campsite was in the middle of an open campground, but we were lucky enough to trade in to a non-reservable secluded spot.
We had a great time exploring the Keeweenaw peninsula, we saw lighthouses, went on bike rides, picked rocks and climbed on rocks, drove the highest above sea-level drive between the Rockies and the Alleghenies, climbed waterfalls, and toured a copper mine.
