Labor Day 2015

We spent our Labor Day on the lake after a weekend's worth of Labor. Jill worked Saturday and Sunday morning, then Saturday we got our firewood stocked up and Sunday we canned a bunch of fruit into jam. Come Monday, we were ready for some family fun. We wanted to go for a boat ride, Todd really wanted to try our his new wetsuit he got himself for his birthday after he froze last time he tried to snorkel by a lake superior ship wreck. The winds were a bit iffy, so we decided to keep a bit closer, but found a really neat spot to explore just north of Washburn and then spent some time on one of our favorite mainland beaches, Bayview beach.

Flint professed that this is their favorite spot in the boat

The Ashland breakwall lighthouse, now part of the Apostle Island national lakeshore.

Once we anchored and got to shore we found a tunnel behind the cave

Family photo op, I set the camera on a ledge, ran to the rock and hopped up, this is the best one we got, one I was halfway up the rock and the other Flint isn't looking.

Flint wanted to do some more exploring, we found a treasure.

On our way out

Flint with his treasure. We found it washed up by the cave. He said to me, "I could hardly believe my eyes" :)

Going swimming

Flint crossing the mouth of the river. There is a bit of current, it was going up river when we were there. He did it all by himself (with his life-jacket.)

Me trying to tell Flint to cross a the narrow part, he didn't, but made it across anyway.

Xander swam across without his lifejacket.
